Jim Opdyke and legacy.

A legend passed named Jim Opdyke this week. Disappointed the governor of Washington didn’t lower the state flag to half mast in honor. So only heard mixed rumors about the guy from word of mouth or on a blog or watching OPBs documentary on Beacon featuring a segment on his dream keeping it free from bolts and spicy leads…. always tongue in cheek reading a rant from a pissed off setter about his rule over Beacon Rock….regardless of the tale he has my respect. & my condolences to his family struggling with him passing. But convos about keeping Beacon Rock wild in the big city and fortitude of the fortress are alive and well and Jims life and legacy will live on in infamy. So next time you are at Beacon I hope you think of him because his intent didn’t go unnoticed and proud to belong to the same community he lived in.
