A diamond in the rough but several walls to get that leg shaking. Located in the heart of PDX along 205. Good chances are this is the closest climbing crag to a International Airport in the world. Rocky Butte certainly needs some TLC and constantly going through abuse and neglect. Join the resilience and keep this place pristine. Take all your possessions out of your car or don’t show up to Rocky unless you can pack it with you- they will steal your backpack/belongings while you are climbing. Homeless camps all over the place here.

Columbia Gorge, Washington - few miles east of Washougal along Hwy14 a beautiful well taken care of crag nested below the road with a cinch approach. The FA’s care about what goes on here and seems like the locals keep it pretty cherry & friendly. There are two parking areas and entry on either end. Farside is the furthest east parking lot. Leave valuables out-of-sight or may be at risk for break ins that do happen at the area unfortunately. Wonderful crag though & a personal favorite for a getaway & magical getting above the tree line looking at the mighty Columbia River Gorge. . If your feeling getting more solitude drive east another 1000 ft and park to get down to the Farside & Dropzone walls. Epic trad and top outs peering over the mighty Columbia Gorge.

Oregon - just past Carver a few miles. Major kudos to the community for saving this place for the generation of sends to come. Beautiful place that the Madrone tree’s compliment the basalt so well and a great place to beat the heat. Regulated by the Clackamas Parks. Seasonal. $6.00 to get in.

Carver

Parking lot puts you to quick access to bouldering and about a 50 yard hike to climbing. Great place to climb but they have strict rules and consent required to climb here.

Incredible views and bolts generously spaced…however bring your helmet and courage. 4wd vehicle is required to get up to the ridgeline- few pullouts and a short hike if you don’t have a all-wheel-drive vehicle but sure worth a trip up the Upper Clackamas river.

Legendary crag that has seen the genesis stages of climbing at the entry of the Columbia River Gorge. Very pretty and stout trad and sport climbs polished from traffic. Tread lightly, enjoy the steez and the breeze of one of the most gorgeous places to climb on the planet. Very accessible and besides Rocky Butte the closest place to climb in PDX.

What can you really say besides buckle up buttercup? Leave your pride & gusset your clout. It’s sport, trad, alpine choss & has the spice. Epic views.

Windy Slab

Just East of Carson Washington on the North Side of the Highway about a dozen good climbs. Couple moderate and rest are 10 slab. The approach is steep and dangerous so give each other some space and climb it one at a time. Rap off the tree to descend. Bring your stoke because it has epic views and yes earns its name Windy Slab for being gusty.
